Ive been a fan of Simen Johan’s work for quite some time now and thought it only fitting that he be the first featured photographer on my new blog. Simen Johan is a Norwegian born photographer who now works out of New York whose work revolves around themes of childhood and the defamiliar (a topic Im sure I will address at some point in this blog). His images are a mix of straight photography and photoshopped elements to create visually stunning and often quite surreal portraits playing upon childhood ideas, ambitions and nightmares.
Ive included a couple of images from the 2000 series ‘Evidence of Things Unseen’, which I consider to be his best body of work to date, but don’t take my word for it, check out his website.
