Its quite hard to put Ellen Kooi’s work into a set genre of photography, theres elements of landscape and portrait photography as well as a strong sense of narrative which makes her images really stand out. To me they seem like images from halfway into a film or story, and the viewer is left to figure out what happens before and after. Her work strikes me as quite innocent and fantasy led, with alot of her models being children and the images themselves having an almost dream like quality (as cliched as it sounds).
